Tuesday, the evening of August 22d from 7 to 9 PM, the monthly Witches Meetup will be held at the Fireside Coffee
Lodge, 1223 SE Powell, in Portland, OR. A number of Guild members make this a regular event and I look at it as
an opportunity to touch several bases and find out what is on people's minds. It is also a very good venue to meet
new folks in the metaphysical community. Hope to see a lot of you there!!!

growing number of the membership. Btw, it also helps to bring your sense of humor with you as a major objective of
this sort of thing is to have fun. This past meeting I handed out an article/ritual on a group magickal operation to those
that had an interest that included some radionics. We'll see what comes of that. One of the members gave me a copy
of "Psycho-Cybernetics" which was published back in 1960. The presentation style has very definately shifted over
the years. Well, change seems to be what it is about in the long run. Still, way back when Jules Feiffer, the beat
generation cartoonist, was pretty damn good at pointing out how humans behaved in general and his work doesn't
appear to be outdated <grins> -

Wed, October 25, 2006 - 1:18 PMYesterday evening's "Witches Meetup" was a lot of fun. I LIKE these monthly get togethers!!! About a dozen of the Guild members attended as well as the usual group of witches. Try to image a restuarant filled with people who actively practice magick. The conversations cover personal experiences with magickal experiments not to mention some "hands on" energy work. Spell work formats are exchanged and plans are laid for holding classes and Initiations. Magickal practitioners new to the area are introduced to the local residents and questions are asked and answered. There is a general mood of good fellowship and humor. On top of that the food and drink are very good.
Soooo........do you folks reading this have something similar going? -

Sun, December 3, 2006 - 10:23 PMSIGH......I missed attending the November meetup. This getting older and creakier is definitely imposing limitations on the physical side of the house. The temperature that night fell well below freezing with a nice brisk wind blowing to create a very "cool" wind chill factor. This ancient body hates that! Apparently I wasn't the only one as I have been told the meeting was about 1/3 its normal attendance. I've got some folks to talk to about the POTA so something else needs to be arranged pretty quickly.

Wed, December 20, 2006 - 11:04 PMI'm in the process of attempting to schedule some daytime weekend meetups at a nearby coffee house here in Portland, OR. Three of us got together there on a Sunday afternoon and spent almost three hours catching up on various ideas and events that had occured over a two month period. The atmosphere was congenial enough and the space was more than adequate to serve a fair number of us. Actually, I think it would be great fun to have a regular "hang out". Myself and some of the people who have remained friends for over 40 years had one in our college days. In fact that was where those friendships were initially formed.

Anyway, I thought we might have a Guild meetup on the afternoon of January 14th which is the 2d Sunday of the month.

Fri, January 19, 2007 - 2:57 PMWe were pretty pleased with the results of our meetup on January 14th. Got together with some folks I hadn't seen in person for a couple of years so part of the mission was accomplished right from the start. I'm glad to report that our people are doing pretty darn well overall, but then, what should one expect from a group of practicing sorcerers......lol.
Anyway, we are thinking of holding another meetup on Sunday, February 11th, weather permitting.

Mon, February 12, 2007 - 4:55 PMHad our meetup yesterday, the 11th, with an even dozen attending. That's two more than the January one. We have some pretty good projects to mull over for this coming year. The first still remains finding a place to teach the POTA. We are collecting a backlog of aspiring Guild members and we really don't want to keep them on hold. Next, is the concept of the Charisma subject becoming an addition to POTA II in a seminar form. Then of course we should begin thinking about another Guild conclave this summer. Heh....that's sans a whole bunch of other stuff we discussed.
All of this and I only have to walk a block and a half to attend........grins. -

Having a standard meeting place creates more *safe space* without having to contend
with interlopers and people who want to disrupt. It does cut down on the strange
attractor of adding the unexpected wanderer though.

Actually, one of the missions of our meetups is to connect with the occasional strange attractor. It's what keeps things dynamic. -

Tue, March 13, 2007 - 12:33 PMThis past Sunday the owner of the Dancing Bean asked me if I would give him a "heads up" on the date when we would be gathering there to hold a meetup so he could lay on extra help. I consider this a pretty positive reaction.......grins. We had already decided that April 22d would be our next gathering so he got his wish on the spot.
Our agenda is beginning to flesh out for the coming months. We have some Initiations to accomplish and those will probably be scheduled for late April. The new POTA cycle will probably start in early May. We are looking at holding a Guild Conclave up on Mt Hood during the 4th of July weekend as the feedback from last year's has been quite positive. That's a weekend campout type of thing and quite a bit of magick is performed. -

Thanks in a large part to the warmer weather the attendance is picking up and it is still a great venue to welcome people new to our community in. Needless to say the opportunity to mix with our folks that we haven't seen or talked to in awhile is also a plus. -

Got to talk to some Guild members I hadn't seen for awhile so that was another plus. It just comes down to for me that it is a lot more FUN to sit across the table from your peers than read a bunch of text rants. -

Sun, April 15, 2007 - 10:35 PMOn the 21st of April... we are initiating two new members into the guild. James and Melody have proven to be two of the best students I have ever had... and I had some good ones. The address for the initiation is at 5313 NE Skidmore and the time would be at 7 PM. After the ritual... the party moves to 1810 SE 45th ave.
All guild members are invited to the birthday party of Rev. Jordan Feathers... after the initiation. Feathers happens to be the current May King of SAB... so his invite is is generous indeed.

Also, they tend to be more "mature" (read older) and more settled in their various life styles. Still, I do hear from several of them on a fairly regular basis so there is activity going on. -

Sat, April 28, 2007 - 1:33 PMHmm...I should mention that the next public Guild meeting scheduled to be held at the Dancing Beans is Sunday, May 20th. The interesting thing is that there is sort of a "catch up" cycle involved in our meetups. The folks that might miss the Sunday meetup often turn up at the Witches Meetup on Tuesday evenings. It does help to have options. -

Mon, May 7, 2007 - 10:27 AMI might also mention that this month, May, is the Guild's 9th birthday. We haven't done too badly for what began with three people doing a beacon summoning back in 1968. Now our egregore is well established and many of the members can flow into gestalt status without effort. So you could consider the 20th of this month sort of a birthday gathering.
Btw, I have been informed that the Guild's conclave will be held up on Mt Hood the weekend of June 30th. -

Sun, February 3, 2008 - 7:16 PMCelebrated Imbolc Saturday morning at Carmella's new metaphysical store, Essential Elements, which is located in Portland's Hawthorne district at 3135 SE Hawthorne. It is a house and if I were tasked to describe the interior in one word the word would be "elegant". Presently there are rooms available for classes, meetings, and ritual. Anyway, the place needs to be experienced to be properly appreciated so I highly recommend stopping by and checking it out. Does it read like I was impressed? Well, I was. -
